Welcome to the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), the world’s largest childbirth education organization.
For over a decade, CAPPA's mission has been to offer comprehensive, evidence-based education, certification, professional membership and training to childbirth educators, lactation educators, labor doulas, antepartum doulas and postpartum doulas worldwide. CAPPA is proud to provide new and expectant families access to these professionals

CAPPA - Caribbean is headed by Shantelle Sandiford who is a certified Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator and Trainer in the respective areas. Shantelle Sandiford has been providing pre and postnatal support and education to families since 2002. She has since moved from Canada back to her home country of Trinidad and Tobago where she continues, to support, educate and empower families.

CAPPA's Mission
CAPPA certified professionals aim to facilitate empowerment, connection, and self-advocacy in families from pre-conception through early parenthood. We seek to enhance the maternity care across the Caribbean by forging positive and productive relationships between, health care providers, medical institutions and health organizations. Our organization consists of a leadership board, regional representatives, trainers, mentors, advisors, and its membership. CAPPA is the most comprehensive pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum organization available.
Our supportive nature also extends to aspiring CAPPA birth professionals by way of our mentorship program. Our mentors provide our understudies with step by step guidance as they make their way through the certification process. This Mentorship system builds the confidence of our trainees thus ensuring we maintain the high standard of professionalism and premium quality service that we are known for. Professionals from other certification bodies are welcomed to join the CAPPA Caribbean community by way of our Dual/Transfer certification route.
